Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios‘ newest game just got a whole lot more interesting.
During a 30-minute Xbox broadcast on 6 May 2026, developers shared a proper deep dive into Stranger Than Heaven, and one of the bigger headlines was Snoop Dogg joining the cast. He voices Orpheus, a character he describes as a “cutthroat and charismatic” smuggler. His son, Cordell Broadus, is also in the game, though his role hasn’t been revealed yet.
Stranger Than Heaven story spanning 50 years
The game’s narrative kicks off in 1915 and spans five decades, centring on the entertainment industry. The main character, Makoto Daito, is an American-born entertainer with mixed heritage who partners with his friend Yu Shinjo. The two eventually cross paths with Orpheus, who spots Makoto’s musical talent.
Other cast members include singer Tori Kelly and J-pop star Satoshi Fujihara, so the music theme runs deep here.

Music and showbiz at the core
Makoto can scout talented performers and collect sounds from across the world to compose original music. There’s also a management layer to the game, where players organise shows, build setlists, and choose which musicians perform.

An unusual combat system
On the combat side, Stranger Than Heaven lets players control both sides of Makoto’s body independently, blocking with one arm while striking with the other. You can also tackle enemies by pressing LT and RT together.

It’s shaping up to be one of the more ambitious projects from the Like a Dragon studio.
