A Witcher multiplayer game is reportedly in the works and it’s free-to-play

A multiplayer Witcher game has reportedly been in development for a while now, but until this week, details were almost nonexistent. That’s changed.

Sources speaking to MP1st claim the project, codenamed Sirius, is a free-to-play co-op action RPG set in The Witcher universe. No consoles on the list either, reportedly, just PC and mobile for now. Make of that what you will.

Set centuries before Geralt

The story reportedly takes place in 1230, at a point when Geralt was still a junior witcher finding his feet. Players won’t be playing as him though. Sirius puts you in the role of your own custom-built witcher, with the usual character creation options you’d expect: gender, appearance, the lot.

Contracts are the bread and butter of gameplay, sending players into dark forests, haunted ruins, and bustling villages to hunt monsters. Combat draws from the series’ established systems, letting players pick abilities from different witcher schools and build a moveset around Signs and potion brewing. Good timing matters too, with blocks, dodges, parries, and executions all said to be rewarded rather than just button-mashing through.

It sounds closer to a proper game than the free-to-play label might suggest at first glance.

Still unconfirmed

CD Projekt Red hasn’t acknowledged Sirius publicly. With The Witcher 4 still on the horizon and a Songs of the Past expansion incoming, an official reveal feels like it could be a while off yet.
