Rebel Wolves didn’t just tease a sequel at Summer Game Fest. It teased an entire saga, and it’s already been written.
The studio’s Blood of Dawnwalker trailer dropped protagonist Coen into a modern-day setting, miles away from the 14th-century Eastern Europe backdrop of the first game, receiving a delivery of blood from a courier. Subtle it wasn’t. The message was clear: this isn’t a one-off story, it’s the start of something much longer.

Why jump across eras?
Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz told Eurogamer the plan is to hop between time periods and cultures on purpose, partly to keep the creative side of things fresh for the team. New legends, new historical events, new challenges each time round, while still building toward one connected story.
And that story isn’t being made up as they go. Tomaszkiewicz told Radio Times Gaming the whole arc across multiple games is already plotted, which makes it easier to plan how choices and consequences in one game carry into the next.

That last bit is the real kicker: Bandai Namco confirmed to Eurogamer that players will be able to carry their save over from the first game. Barely any RPGs pull that off with a single continuing protagonist. Mass Effect and The Witcher are really the only two that spring to mind, and given how many Blood of Dawnwalker devs (Tomaszkiewicz included) cut their teeth on Geralt’s trilogy at CD Projekt RED, that’s not exactly a coincidence.
Of course, a saga’s only worth planning if game one lands. We won’t have to wait long to find out. The Blood of Dawnwalker has gone gold and launches September 3, 2026, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X.
