Bose Brings Back Wired Earbuds With Noise Cancelling and USB-C

Bose is bringing wired earbuds back with a modern upgrade. The new Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds combine a USB-C wired connection with active noise cancellation, clear calls, and Bose audio technology, giving users an option that does not need Bluetooth or a built-in battery.

The new earbuds cost $99 and are designed for people who want simple plug-and-play audio without worrying about charging. Bose says the earbuds will start shipping on October 15, while My Bose members can preorder them through Bose and Best Buy. They will be available in Black and White Smoke, with a limited-edition Dewdrop Mint version also offered.

Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds bring ANC to USB-C

The biggest feature of the Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds is their wired noise cancellation. The earbuds use four microphones, with two microphones on each side, to detect surrounding sounds and reduce unwanted noise through Bose’s QuietControl technology.

Users can switch between three listening modes. Quiet Mode reduces outside noise, Aware Mode allows more of the surroundings to be heard, while ANC Off Mode turns noise cancellation off for a more basic wired listening experience.

Because the earbuds do not have a battery, they take power directly from the connected device. This means there is no charging case and no battery to recharge before listening.

The USB-C connection also makes the earbuds suitable for modern phones, tablets, and computers. No Bluetooth pairing or companion app is required.

Lossless audio and physical controls

Bose has included its SoundDesign digital signal processing technology for the new earbuds. They support USB Audio Class 2 and can accept different sample and bit rates, with playback output set at 24-bit/48 kHz.

The wired connection can also provide low-latency audio, which could be useful for watching videos, gaming, and other tasks where keeping sound and visuals in sync matters.

An inline remote gives users physical buttons for volume, playback, calls, and noise control. There is also a dedicated microphone on the remote for voice calls. Bose says its position is designed to reduce unwanted noise caused by the cable rubbing against clothing.

The earbuds come with a 4.2-foot cable and several fitting options. Users get small, medium, and large silicone eartips, along with medium and large stability wings. The earbuds are also rated IPX4 for water resistance and come with a zippered carrying case.

With wired audio becoming popular again, Bose’s new model takes a different approach from the company’s wireless earbuds. Instead of adding another charging case to your pocket, the Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds focus on a direct USB-C connection while still offering active noise cancellation and modern audio features.

At $99, Bose is positioning the new earbuds as a relatively simple way to get its noise cancellation and audio processing without moving to a wireless design.
