RAPOO VT2 V2 and VT2s V2 Bring Great 8KHz Wireless Gaming Performance

RAPOO is expanding its lightweight gaming mouse range with two new models that look set to offer a strong mix of speed, battery life, and comfort. The new RAPOO VT2 V2 and VT2s V2 are launching today at 8:00 PM, with both mice using the same core hardware but different body shapes.

The main difference between the two models is their size. RAPOO has designed the VT2 V2 for medium to large hands, while the smaller VT2s V2 is aimed at users with small to medium hands.

Both mice use PixArt’s PAW3950 sensor, Nordic’s new nRF54L15 controller, and support an 8KHz polling rate over both USB-C and 2.4GHz wireless connections. Despite offering high-end gaming hardware, neither mouse crosses the 60-gram mark.

RAPOO VT2 V2 and VT2s V2 Focus on Lightweight Gaming

The larger RAPOO VT2 V2 measures 126 × 63 × 40 mm and weighs around 55 grams. It uses a high-back shape and is designed to work with all common grip styles.

That makes it the more flexible choice for gamers with medium to large hands who do not want to be locked into one particular grip.

The VT2s V2 is more compact, measuring 119 × 62 × 39 mm. It weighs around 52 grams and is mainly designed for claw and fingertip grips. RAPOO is targeting small to medium hands with this version.

The small difference in weight is unlikely to be noticeable during normal use, but the different shapes could make a much bigger difference depending on how you hold your mouse.

Both Mice Get PAW3950 and 8KHz Polling

Under the hood, the two mice are almost identical.

Both models feature PixArt’s PAW3950 optical sensor paired with Nordic’s nRF54L15 controller. The sensor is designed for fast and accurate tracking and supports a high-frame-rate mode of at least 20,000 FPS.

RAPOO also supports polling rates of up to 8KHz. More importantly, the company says 8KHz polling is available not only through the USB-C connection but also when using the 2.4GHz wireless connection.

An 8KHz polling rate means the mouse can report its position to the PC much more frequently than a typical 1KHz mouse. This can help provide smoother cursor movement, especially on high-refresh-rate displays.

There is a trade-off, however. Higher polling rates require more power, so battery life drops when the mouse is running at 8KHz.

800mAh Battery Offers Long Runtime

RAPOO has equipped both mice with an 800mAh battery, which is fairly large for lightweight wireless gaming mice.

According to RAPOO, both models can deliver up to 750 hours of battery life at 1KHz. When switched to the maximum 8KHz polling rate, the claimed battery life drops to up to 120 hours.

That is still a considerable amount of runtime for an 8KHz wireless mouse. In other words, gamers who mainly use 1KHz polling can prioritize battery life, while users who want the lowest possible reporting interval can move up to 8KHz without constantly needing to charge the mouse.

Actual battery life will naturally depend on usage and settings.

Mechanical Switches and Reinforced Chassis

The RAPOO VT2 V2 and VT2s V2 both use 100M Omron mechanical switches for their main buttons. The scroll wheel uses a 2M TTC mechanical encoder.

RAPOO has also added an internal keel structure to strengthen the mouse body. This is intended to give the lightweight chassis additional support without adding unnecessary weight.

The combination of mechanical switches, a lightweight shell, and the PAW3950 sensor puts the two mice firmly in the performance-focused gaming category.

Four Color Options Available

RAPOO plans to offer both mice in four colors: black, white, red, and pink.

The company is essentially giving gamers two ways to choose the same hardware platform. Users with larger hands can go for the high-back VT2 V2, while those who prefer a smaller body can choose the VT2s V2.

Two Sizes, One High Speed Platform

The RAPOO VT2 V2 and VT2s V2 are not radically different mice when it comes to their internal hardware. Instead, RAPOO is using the same performance platform in two different body sizes.

The VT2 V2 makes more sense for users who want a larger, higher-back mouse with support for different grip styles. The VT2s V2 is the more compact option for smaller hands and claw or fingertip users.

With the PAW3950 sensor, nRF54L15 controller, 8KHz wireless polling, and an 800mAh battery, both models offer a strong hardware package while keeping their weight below 60 grams.
