Apple’s first foldable iPhone Duo costs a whopping $1,999

Apple has finally gone and made a foldable phone. It’s called the iPhone Duo, and it’ll cost $1,999.

That price gets you a 7.6-inch inner screen, the biggest ever on an iPhone, and a 5.4-inch outer display for when it’s folded shut. Both screens share the same aspect ratio, so content scales cleanly whichever way you’re using it. Apple’s also stuck a nano-texture finish on the inner display to cut down on glare, which is a nice touch for something you’ll presumably be staring at a lot.

A hinge with over 100 parts

The hinge is where things get properly mad. It’s 3D-printed, made from over 100 individual components, and finished with a micro-blasted texture Apple reckons will feel smooth in the hand. It’s holding up a body made of grade-5 titanium in either star white or night sky, and somehow this is still the thinnest iPhone Apple’s ever made when opened up.

iPhone Duo’s power comes from the new A20 Pro chip, paired with a custom vapor chamber to keep things cool, and a dual-battery setup that Apple claims gets you 24 hours of use, with the outer screen managing up to 44 hours of video playback on its own.

Camera-wise, you’re getting a 48MP main and 48MP ultra-wide on the back, a 12MP selfie camera on the cover, and a 12MP camera tucked under the inner display itself. There’s a genuinely useful bit here too: Duo Preview lets whoever you’re photographing see themselves on the outer screen so they can check their pose before you snap it.

The iPhone Duo runs iOS 27, rebuilt to handle folding, with Apple Intelligence and Siri baked in throughout.

Pre-orders open October 16, with the phone landing in shops on October 23. Two grand for a foldable is a lot, but if anyone’s going to make people pay it, it’s Apple.
