Right, mark your calendars, because Modern Warfare 4′s beta plans are finally locked in, and it’s kicking off sooner than you might’ve expected.
A new blog post confirms Call of Duty NEXT lands on August 21, where we’ll get our first proper look at live gameplay and a full rundown of what’s coming to multiplayer. The beta drops the moment that event wraps up, so no awkward waiting around this time.

Two Beta weekends, one big perk for Modern Warfare 4 pre-orderers
There are two waves of testing here. Early access is the exclusive one, reserved for anyone who’s pre-ordered on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, or PC, running from August 21 to 25. Fair enough, I suppose; that’s the deal with pre-order perks. Open beta then throws the doors open to everyone, Nintendo Switch 2 included, no pre-order needed, from August 28 through September 1.

As for what you’ll actually get your hands on: a batch of multiplayer maps, new operators, and 19 weapons to mess about with. There’s 3v3 skirmishes, big tank-heavy tactical battles, and a mix of returning and new modes including Search & Destroy, Kill Block, and the Training Mobility Course.
More gameplay details are apparently still to come, so this probably isn’t the full picture yet.
