Campaign early access is back in Call of Duty, and after two years without it, that’s going to mean a lot to a certain kind of pre-order loyalist.
Activision has confirmed that digital pre-orders for Modern Warfare 4 will include access to the campaign a full week ahead of the full launch. Players can jump in on 16th October, with multiplayer and the extraction mode DMZ arriving the following week when the game fully releases on 23rd October across PC, PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The feature was a staple during Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III, but quietly disappeared for Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7. Its return here feels deliberate, MW4 is leaning hard into its campaign as a selling point.

A new perspective on the Modern Warfare 4 world
The story follows Private Park, a young South Korean soldier thrown into the chaos of a North Korean invasion. Cities are falling, squads are scrambling, and the mission quickly becomes something far bigger than expected.
Captain Price is back too, operating off the grid and chasing revenge in the way only Price can. His path eventually crosses into something that could shift global power altogether.

Activision is pitching Modern Warfare 4‘s campaign as a grounded, varied experience, large-scale battles, covert operations, combined-arms set pieces. A deliberate contrast to Black Ops 7’s futuristic tone.
Pre-orders also unlock early access to the Modern Warfare 4 beta, which is expected sometime this summer ahead of launch.
