SAPPHIRE Technology has introduced the SAPPHIRE EDGE+ Apex, a new robotics platform designed to make AI-powered robot development faster and easier. The company revealed the new platform during the AMD Advancing AI 2026 event in San Francisco.
Built around AMD Ryzen AI Embedded X100 Series processors, the SAPPHIRE EDGE+ Apex is designed for robots that need reliable performance in factories, warehouses, and other industrial environments. It combines powerful AI processing with a production-ready design, allowing developers to move from testing to deployment more quickly.


The platform features a COM-HPC System-on-Module paired with a custom robotics carrier board developed by SAPPHIRE. It supports up to 128GB of LPDDR5x memory, providing enough power for AI workloads such as object recognition, scene analysis, path planning, and real-time decision making.
The AMD Ryzen AI Embedded X100 processor combines CPU, GPU, and NPU hardware in one platform. This allows the SAPPHIRE EDGE+ Apex to handle AI tasks efficiently while maintaining stable performance for systems that need to run around the clock.

SAPPHIRE has also focused on making the platform developer-friendly. The SAPPHIRE EDGE+ Apex supports an open software ecosystem, allowing developers to use familiar AI frameworks together with AMD ROCm and Ryzen AI software. This makes it easier to build, test, and deploy AI applications without changing existing workflows.
The carrier board includes a wide range of connectivity options for modern robotics projects. Developers can connect multiple cameras through GMSL interfaces, communicate with industrial equipment using CAN-FD and EtherCAT, and take advantage of QSFP networking, USB4 Type-C, OCuLink PCIe Gen 5 expansion, and an onboard IMU for motion tracking. These features allow the platform to connect sensors, actuators, and industrial devices without extra hardware.



For industrial and commercial deployments, the SAPPHIRE EDGE+ Apex also includes a Functional Safety capable power design and Trusted Platform Module 2.0 support. These features improve system reliability while helping protect sensitive data in demanding environments.



SAPPHIRE will offer the platform in two separate products. Customers can purchase the COM-HPC Client B System-on-Module powered by AMD Ryzen AI Embedded X100 Series processors or choose the robotics carrier board built around an AMD UltraScale+ FPGA, depending on their project requirements.


The launch of the SAPPHIRE EDGE+ Apex expands the company’s EDGE+ embedded computing portfolio. Alongside solutions based on the AMD Kria AI platform, the new hardware gives robotics developers a flexible and scalable foundation for machine vision, industrial automation, autonomous robots, and other physical AI applications while helping reduce development time and speed up deployment.
