Playground Games‘ long-awaited Fable reboot has quietly picked up official ratings in both South Korea and Australia, and that’s actually a bigger deal than it might sound.
What the ratings tell us
Both boards have slapped an adults-only classification on the game, citing mature content including strong language, violence, and player-driven criminal acts. South Korea’s board also gave us our first official story snippet: an open-world RPG in which players tackle a mysterious stranger who’s been turning villagers to stone. Intriguing stuff.

Reading between the lines
The more telling detail, though, is timing. Korean ratings have historically preceded launches by roughly four to five months. Death Stranding 2 was rated in early February and released in late June. Metroid Prime 4 was rated in July and launched in December. If Fable follows a similar pattern, a September or October window looks entirely plausible.
Dodging GTA 6’s shadow
That would conveniently place Fable well clear of GTA 6, which Take-Two has reconfirmed for 19th November. Insider Jeff Grubb previously warned that Playground might slip to 2027 if it couldn’t beat Rockstar to market, but between these ratings and a recent recruitment drive still referencing 2026, things are looking more optimistic.

Playground’s already riding high after Forza Horizon 6‘s near-perfect reception. A successful Fable launch would make their year extraordinary.
